You’ve exposed your ears to lots of loud music and noise exposure… now what?

It is okay. Musicians.Ear is here to help from here on out.

If you have had a lot of noise exposure, I would recommend:

1) Getting a hearing test from your local audiologist.

  • They can establish what your hearing levels are and talk with you about any auditory symptoms you may be experiencing (ringing or buzzing in your ears, any difficult listening environments, etc.).

2) Start wearing hearing protection.

  • It is never too late to wear hearing protection in whatever environment you may be in. Whether you are attending a concert or practicing your instrument for hours on end, hearing protection will help protect your ears to hear for years.

3) Turn down the volume.

  • The general rule is: If you can’t hear people talking around you, then your music is too loud. The person that is sitting next to you should not be able to hear your music and you should be able to hear them if they say your name to get your attention.

Healthy hearing practices are a lifetime habit. Start to bring your hearing protection with you wherever you go. If you find yourself experiencing ringing in your ears (tinnitus) or any signs of decreased hearing ability see your audiologist and wear hearing protection, because once that damage occurs, it can’t be reversed.

Remember, Musicians.Ear is here to help no matter what your questions are. I am happy to answer questions to the best of my ability!

Thank you!
